Both are shells of their former selves, but technically still “ exist ”.

(apologies for the graphical errors. I had to splice some poorly scanned images together to get the full advertisement)

Eh, post-2002 Gateways weren’t great, but the ‘90s Gateway 2000s were awesome!

Acer actually made them better, believe it or not. Gateway’s purchase of eMachines in 2004, combined with letting eMachines run the show, is what ruined their reputation.

Had one of these. It was awesome. Had one of the first CD drives in town.

Waffle-iron air vents that were supposed to look plane-ish but didn’t.

Kinja'd!!!

I actually picked up a lot of 3 recently for ~$30.

Kinja'd!!!

Two of the keyboards had broken and missing parts, but they were able to be combined into one functional keyboard. All three needed serious cleaning.

Kinja'd!!!

I split the cost with a friend of mine, so we both ended up with an AnyKey for ~$15, and also a stash of spare parts.

Kinja'd!!!

They are nice keyboards, but I still prefer the Keytronic EP3435XTAT for overall feel.

Kinja'd!!!

That’s the background I have on my tower! I have a copy of all of those off of an old Gateway 2000 CD.

My family’s first home computer was a Gateway 2000 running Windows 95.

The newer ones, definitely. In fact, I have one from 2007 that I still use on occasion, which was purchased by my grandparents.

See... That’s exactly what I meant. People who still own them bought/were given them from their grandparents.

That definitely goes for the newer ones, but that’s not my experience with the older (‘90s) stuff.

Man that’s awesome. Always wanted to have one of those keyboards again like we had 20 years ago.
